Illinois Senate passes tax hike; governor has vowed to veto

CHICAGO The Illinois Senate on Tuesday gave final approval to a revenue bill for a fiscal 2018 budget that includes a big income tax rate increase that Governor Bruce Rauner plans to veto.


The $5 billion tax package, which passed the House on Sunday, won approval from the Senate in a 36-18 vote.
