NEW YORK (Reuters) – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) said on Wednesday it has expanded fuel waivers for gasoline in response to requests from states to minimize potential supply shortages from Tropical Storm Harvey.

The waiver applies to Alabama, Louisiana, Texas, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Florida and Washington, D.C., EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt said in a letter.

Three of those states had previously been approved by the agency: Georgia, Louisiana and Texas.

The waiver eases regulations requiring the use of low-volatility conventional gasoline during the summer season.
