WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker has agreed to appear before the House of Representatives Judiciary Committee in January, after Democrats take control of the congressional chamber, two Democratic lawmakers said on Friday.

Representative Jerrold Nadler, who is slated to become chairman of the panel, and Representative Elijah Cummings, the expected chairman of the House Oversight Committee, said in a joint statement that Whitaker committed to testify before the committee at a “mutually agreeable date” during a phone call.
