by FRANCESCO GRECO – LOS ANGELES (USA) – “Producers create stories and through someone else’s vision, they try to give voice to their own” With these words Dino Sardella introduces his personal take on what it means to be a producer. “Many years of theatre, as well as my studies and personal interests, have prepared me well to storytelling and definitely formed my narrative”.    Born in Italy and lived between Rome, London and now Los Angeles, Dino started his journey in the entertainment industry on stage, first as actor, then as writer/ producer of small independent theatre productions. Writing and Producing are in fact the main interests of this young artist from the South of Italy who, thanks also to sporadic experiences as director, owns now a 360 degrees’ knowledge of how the complex machine behind film-making works.“Writing and Producing are different facets of the same medal. The creative process of a film or a play would be nothing without the involvement of difference forces and the Producer is not only the person who brings money or support to the project, but he is also the one who actively contributes to define it.”   With his short film “Killing Adam”, Sardella received numerous awards in several Indie Film Festivals around the globe. This satire about people’s obsession with social media made Dino known in the indie landscape to a point that Hollywood Writer/ Producer AW Tony Scott of Broadvision Entertainment asked him to collaborate on the production of several projects. The first of these projects is the short film/ proof of concept “Together” (written and directed by Scott). Produced by the Chinese-American Producer Jean Su and Dino.   “When I’ve read the script I couldn’t say no”. “Together” tells the story of a normal family whose values and relationship are challenged by a terrible accident. The short film is now going through Film festivals and it has been already selected in some of the most recognized Oscar Qualifying Film festivals in the States, including the renown LA SHORT Film Festival.“It is a great recognition and a proof that working together with creative people, is an experience that definitely pays off”. After the short film will end its run around International Film Festivals, Dino with Scott and Su will collaborate again on the feature film based on the short “Together” and on the production of a play, based on a screenplay written by Dino.   “I am very excited about the next two productions and I can’t wait to start working hard on them” Says Tony Scott “Dino has proved to be an essential part of the production process and his creative and professional contribution will be even more important on the projects to come, on top of that, the play he is writing is funny as hell”.   Film or Theatre? “They are completely different, not only the medium but every single part connected to them, from writing to producing to directing and acting. And not mutually exclusive”. But which one do you prefer? “Both, they are different ways to communicate with your audience”.
