(Pixabay) MILAN – Huawei has not been invited by Telecom Italia to the table to participate in the tender for the supply of 5G equipment for its network that it is preparing to build in Italy and Brazil. The invited suppliers would instead be Cisco, Ericsson, Nokia and Mavenir and Affirmed Networks, a company recently purchased by Microsoft.
Huawei’s top management in Italy and Brazil declined to comment on the news. Tim’s move comes after the rumor circulated in recent days that Italy was considering whether to exclude the Chinese giant from the construction of the new generation networks, following concerns that 5G could allow China to spy on the main telecommunications from the western world, with serious security consequences.
