(Pixabay) The year 1990 represents a milestone in the development of democracy in Slovenia. Intensive political changes led to the introduction of a multi-party system, the first democratic elections and the first Government of the Republic of Slovenia, which together with other political and social structures carried out the process of independence. How do we see this process 30 years later, what path has Slovenia taken during this time? What is the future of Slovenia?

At the round table we will remember these events together with our guests:

  • Alojz Peterle, the first Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and long-time Member of the European Parliament;
  • Igor Bavčar, First Minister of the Interior of the Republic of Slovenia, former Minister of European Affairs;
  • Prof. Dr. Ernest Petrič, former President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Slovenia, First Slovenian Ambassador to the United States, member and former President of the UN International Law Commission (ILC) and member of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe.
  • Prof. Dr. Ciril Ribičič, professor emeritus at the Faculty of Law, University of Ljubljana, former Constitutional Court Judge.

 The round table, which will be held in Slovene, will be moderated by Assist. Prof. Dr. Zijad Bećirović, Director of IFIMES.
