Faroese experimental rap-punk outfit AGGRASOPPAR are making waves in the international scene again with their upcoming performances at Icelandic Airwaves in Reykjavík, set for Friday 3rd and Sunday 5th of November.
The band recently performed at Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg, following a series of international live successes such as the SPOT Festival in Aarhus, Denmark, and two incendiary shows at The Great Escape in Brighton, UK.
Comprised of Dania O. Tausen, Eyðfinn Bogason Lamhauge, and Trygvi Danielsen, Aggrasoppar released their EP “døgurðaslang” (lunch-nap) last summer. With its eight tracks, the EP showcases the band’s soft, nostalgic, and tender side, and its message of believing in the goodness in every human being walking this earth at this moment.

The opening track, “búff & buffét”, sets the tone of the album and it introduces the album’s main theme in all of its grotesque glory: the dinner party. As the feasting begins, AGGRASOPPAR invite you on a musical journey with delicious Faroese delicacies such as moldy mushroom soup and grandma’s sweaty pancakes. And, of course, the opening dish: Búff & buffét (steak & buffét), a classy and logical combination of everyone’s favourite meals. “IT ERU MOYR” (we are more/sore) is the late summer hit about believing in yourself and finding your particular role as an individual and a contributing part of society. The gospel-inspired track “hann sjálvir” (which is a Faroese way of greeting) is a tribute to life & death. It’s about losing loved ones, loving beyond borders and being born again through believing in the good in yourself and others. It’s about being the first to say “Hey, how are you doing?” which is where all connections start. Hand out your roses before it’s too late. Love, live, hug, play, dance, laugh and cry with those you love; you never know when your last “hey, how is it going?” will be.

Aggrasoppar [Agg:rah:soh:parr] is a Faroese “flowerpunk naprap semi-supergroup” which erupted from the societal slumber of 2020 and released its 20-song-strong debut album on Christmas Eve 2020. They are infamous for their energetic live performances where you never know what to expect from their surprisingly big and diverse repertoire – everything from harsh noise to soft country.
Aggrasoppar’s music covers a wide variety of genres and moods, all bound together by the playful weirdness of the production and performances of the three core members who go by the pseudonyms Ayphinn, Dada, and Sóljudrongur.
