by OZGE YILDIRIM – The United Nations reported that the Kovid-19 outbreak is expected to reach its peak in the world’s poorest countries for up to 3 to 6 months. The United Nations (UN) has expanded the $ 2 billion global aid plan announced by Secretary General Antonio Guterres in March to combat the new type of coronavirus (Kovid-19) outbreak.

Mark Lowcock, UN Deputy Secretary General for Human Affairs, pointed out that they estimate that the outbreak will reach its peak in the poorest countries of the world for 3 to 6 months, and pointed out that the greatest destruction and instability will be felt in these countries.

Lowcock, who warned that the epidemic will cause conflict, poverty and famine if measures are not taken as soon as possible in these countries, stated that 6.7 billion dollars are needed to prevent the epidemic from spreading in vulnerable and fragile countries. 9 new countries were added to UN aid programs in the period of fighting against epidemics: Benin, Djibouti, Liberia, Mozambique, Pakistan, Philippines, Sierra Leone, Togo and Zimbabwe.
