CALTANISSETTA – The 118 migrants out of a total of 184 who had left the facility yesterday were tracked down and taken back to Cara di Pian del Lago di Caltanissetta. Migrants were forced to respect the quarantine. Yesterday, however, around 6 pm, they started a mass flight. Law enforcement officers worked all night to track them down and searches are continuing. Many migrants fled barefoot through the countryside.

“I am going to the Municipality – said mayor Roberto Gambino – to write a note to Minister Luciana Lamorgese, reiterating that the Caltanissetta structure is unable to contain these people, because apparently it is not suitable. I demand that no one comes to Caltanissetta and that Cara is emptied by those in quarantine. We thank the police for tracking down more than 100 migrants but I remain of the opinion that they cannot stay here “.
